GENDER EQUALITY PRACTICES POLICY

CIRIEC-España revista de economía pública, social y cooperativa is committed to gender policies that lead to real equality between women and men in our society. This commitment is reflected in several fundamental actions.

Editorial participation

For CIRIEC-España revista de economía pública, social y cooperativa it is important to achieve a balanced composition of women and men in its Editorial Team. Currently, 41% of the members of its editorial board and 56% of its reviewers are women. In addition, the gender distribution of authors during the 2024 financial year was 57% women and 43% men.

Inclusive and non-sexist language

CIRIEC-España revista de economía pública, social y cooperativa recommends that articles use inclusive and non-sexist language that takes into account the presence and situation of women in society and is in accordance with the principle of gender equality. In this sense, it is advisable to replace the use of the generic masculine to designate all the people in the class or group, whether men or women, with terms of generic value, to use explanatory phrases or, when none of the above is possible, to use split formulas. In turn, any writing that complies with the rules of the RAE in this respect is considered acceptable.

By agreement of the Editorial Board of CIRIEC-España revista de economía pública, social y cooperativa of February 2025, published articles must indicate the full name of the authors in the bibliographical references, avoiding initials and abbreviations, as established in the examples of citation.

Gender in research

Research reports should avoid gender stereotypes and biases that adopt the masculine as a universal referent, exacerbate biological differences or naturalise socially constructed differences. Likewise, it is recommended that the sex variable be considered in any type of research, reflecting the sex composition of the study samples as well as analysing possible differences and disaggregating results by sex, as well as reporting on whether the conclusions have taken into account possible differences between sexes. In this regard, it is recommended to consult the manual: Gender in research.
